New Ford Fiesta ST-3 is released

The ST-3 has been launched following the success of earlier models.

Drivers looking for Ford Fiesta deals will be interested to know a new version of the ST has been released this week.

The Fiesta ST3- has been launched a year after the original model – which has won numerous awards – was made available.

It contains a number of new features such as keyless entry, automatic headlights, cruise control and rain-sensing wipers. Drivers will also be able to take advantage of an auto-dimming rear view mirror, power-fold door mirrors with puddle lamps and electronic automatic temperature control.

Entertainment-wise, the model will contain a Sony DAB radio/CD player complete with a navigation system.

The Fiesta ST-3 is priced at £19,250 and Ford said it has been developed to meet demand for a higher series model following the success of the ST and ST-2.

It makes use of a 1.6-litre EcoBoost 182PS engine, with six-speed manual transmission. The new model will still maintain the ST's 'hot hatch' performance, which allows it to reach 62 miles per hour in just 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 139 miles per hour.

In terms of fuel economy, it offers 47.9 miles per gallon, with carbon emissions of just 138 grams per kilometre.

The ST-3 is available in a range of five colours – frozen white, race red, panther black, spirit blue and molten orange. These will then be matched with one of two interior colour schemes – molten orange or smoke storm. An optional extra is rear parking sensors, which can be added at a cost of £250.

Over 6,250 STs have been sold since the car's release, which is 20 per cent more than was forecast. The ST-2 has accounted for 90 per cent of sales so far.

It has won close to 25 honours and awards, including Car of the Year from Top Gear, Best Performance Car at the UK Car of the Year Awards and Best Hot Hatch at the Auto Express Awards.
