Volkswagen has picked up a number of awards at a ceremony celebrating the security achievements of UK manufacturers.
The brand was named Manufacturer of the Year in the car category at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards, which were presented by Thatcham, the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre in Berkshire.
It also triumphed in the Large Multi-Purpose Vehicle class thanks to its Sharan model, while the Beetle emerged victorious from the Small Family Car category.
In addition, the Phaeton was crowned Best Luxury Car for the fifth time in nine years, while the Caddy picked up the top prize in the Light Van section and the Amarok was heralded the most secure Pick-Up Light Commercial Vehicle.
Peter Shaw, chief executive at Thatcham, noted the carmaker has "always fared well at these awards and this year's results are a tribute to its tenacity in devising security solutions to design out crime and make its vehicles more secure".
