Renault has revealed its latest Scenic MPV at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
Sales of MPVs have fallen in recent times, but it is hoped the new-look Scenic will play a key role in boosting interest.
Inspired by Renault’s 2011 R-Space concept car, the vehicle has 20-inch wheels fitted as standard and is available in a two-one colour scheme.
Renault confirmed the new Scenic will be available in the UK before the end of the year and each model will feature AEBS (Active Emergency Braking System) with Pedestrian Detection as standard.
Buyers will be able to choose from six diesel and two petrol engine options, with both manual and EDC transmissions.
Shared owners may be particularly interested in the ability to "personalise their driving experience" with a drive mode selector option, allowing them to set their preferred throttle response, steering weight and interior ambient lighting levels.
“We wanted the new Scenic to break new ground. It is a sexier and more modern take on the MPV which carries over the outstanding modularity that has been paramount to the success of the model’s three previous generations over the past 20 years,” explained Laurens van den Acker, senior vice president of corporate design at Renault.
The first Scenic was released in 1996 and led to strong demand for MPV vehicles, but increasingly motorists are opting for SUVs and crossovers.
