Kia Optima and Sportage awarded top safety rating

Kia's Optima and Sportage models have been awarded the top Euro NCAP safety rating following the latest round of testing.

The two cars received maximum five-star crash safety ratings – scoring highly for adult protection and child occupant protection.

Both cars benefit from stronger bodyshells that are made from tougher and lighter materials to help improve safety.

Kia has also invested heavily in the creation of active safety technologies that are designed to help reduce the possibility of a collision or lessen the impact of any accident.

The latest Optima and Sportage have Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) fitted as standard and this helps to improve handling if there is a loss of traction.

In addition, both models are available with the optional Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system, that makes use of long-range radar detection system to automatically detect a potential hazard and therefore ensure the car stops automatically.
