New Audi A6 Avant revealed, available to order this summer

Audi has unveiled the estate version of the new A6 executive cruiser.

Available to order from this summer, the A6 Avant delivers the kind of striking design you’ve come to expect from an executive class mile-munching Audi.

Like its recently revealed saloon counterpart, the new A6 Avant is larger in every direction, stretching for 4.94 metres and measuring at 1.89 metres wide and 1.47 metres high.

This makes for a more spacious interior and helps it deliver best-in-class front and rear elbow room and rear knee room.

Despite the roomier cabin, boot space remains unchanged with a loading width of 1,050mm and up to 565 litres, expanding to 1,680 litres with the standard rear seats folded down.

The tailgate and luggage compartment cover open electrically as standard, while an optional sensor on the tailgate enables it to be opened by swiping your foot under the car’s rear.

Under the bonnet will be one of a number of powerful four and six-cylinder engines. Each unit is backed-up by a mild hybrid system that enables engine-off coasting at speeds of between 34mph and 99mph to conserve fuel.

There’s been no further technical details on the units or what they’ll be capable of but they will all come linked to one of two automatic gearboxes: either a seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch or an eight-speed tiptronic.

Keep an eye out for prices and other details as temperatures rise over coming months.
