Volkswagen claims second Manufacturer of the Year Award

Within days of winning the Fleet Van Manufacturer of the Year Award, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has also been named as the Light Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year at the GreenFleet Awards.

Motorists looking for Volkswagen deals will be interested to hear that the manufacturer claimed the award due to its environmental improvements made to the new Transporter.

The new BlueMotion technology, which features stop/start and battery regeneration systems, was also praised.

"In such difficult times, fuel economy is pivotal in reducing the operational costs of running any fleet, and when you add the environmental benefits that Volkswagen can add, it really is a win-win fleet solution," said Colin Boyton, marketing manager of the GreenFleet Awards.

Volkswagen believes that the launch of the Transporter earlier this year and the arrival of the new Caddy in November gives the manufacturer the most up to date van range on the market.

The new Volkswagen Amarok was recently honoured with the International Pick-up Award 2011, which was judged by a highly-regarded panel, representing 23 countries.
