About the JAECOO 8
The JAECOO 8 is a large plug-in hybrid SUV that aims to give you the space and comfort of a premium seven-seater with running costs and performance that feel very modern. It uses the brand’s SHS P plug-in hybrid system, pairing a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine with a big 34.5 kWh battery and multiple electric motors for a combined output of around 428 PS and 580 Nm of torque.
On paper, that is enough for a 0 to 62 mph time of about 5.8 seconds, which is hot hatch quick in what is effectively a family bus that is almost as long as a Volvo XC90. Electric-only range is a headline figure too - JAECOO quotes up to 83 miles on the WLTP test, and early road tests suggest that around 70 miles is achievable in real conditions if you start fully charged and drive sensibly. With the tank and battery both full, a total range of well over 600 and up towards 700 miles is possible before you need to stop.
What Makes the JAECOO 8 Stand Out?
Practicality is a clear strength. The JAECOO 8 can be specified as a seven seater with a three-person bench in the middle row or as a six seater with individual captain’s chairs, both layouts offering plenty of legroom and a genuinely airy cabin. With all three rows in place, there is enough boot space for a weekly shop or a couple of small suitcases, but the car really comes into its own when you drop the third row and unlock about 738 litres of luggage space up to the window line. Fold the middle row as well, and you are looking at a van with 2,021 litres of capacity on seven-seat versions, which will easily swallow bikes, flat-pack furniture or camping gear.
The plug-in hybrid hardware is also more sophisticated than many rivals. That large 34.5 kWh battery is bigger than the packs fitted to some small full electric cars, and it can be charged in more ways than usual for a PHEV. At home, you will mostly use AC charging, where a 6.6 kW on-board charger means an overnight top-up is straightforward, but the JAECOO 8 can also DC fast charge at up to around 70 kW, taking the battery from roughly 30 to 80 per cent in about 20 minutes at a suitable public charger. There is even a vehicle to load functionality at up to 6.6 kW, so you can run tools, camping equipment or even give another EV an emergency boost directly from the car’s battery. A 1,600 kg braked towing capacity and adaptive suspension that works to keep the car level when hitched underline its usefulness as a tow car.
Why Choose cars2buy for JAECOO 8 Car Leasing?
Cars2buy pulls JAECOO 8 lease deals together from a wide mix of UK leasing companies, so you can see contract lengths, annual mileage limits and initial payments side by side rather than chasing separate quotes. You can then filter to focus on Luxury seven-seat or Executive six-seat models and adjust the figures to match how far you drive and how much you want to spend each month.
Once you have picked out a JAECOO 8 leasing offer that fits your needs, you can enquire directly with the supplying company straight from our lease comparisons.
What Are the Alternatives to the JAECOO 8?
If you are looking at JAECOO 8 leasing, you will probably also consider other large plug-in hybrid family SUVs. The Kia Sorento PHEV and Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV both offer seven seats and proven dealer networks, but they cannot match the JAECOO’s electric-only range and usually cost more when you align equipment. The Skoda Kodiaq PHEV and Volkswagen Tayron eHybrid are strong all-rounders with slightly tidier driving manners, though boot space in five-seat mode is only fractionally ahead of the JAECOO 8. At the more premium end, the Volvo XC90 plug-in hybrid and BMW X5 xDrive50e feel more luxurious inside and are more established names, but they sit in a different price band to this newcomer.
