Kia records best quarterly sales ever

Kia sales are flying high in spring 2019.

More people than ever have been shopping for new Kia deals, if figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) are anything to go by.

According to the organisation, Kia Motors has recorded its best ever quarterly sales figures in Europe during the first three months of 2019, with 132,174 units sold for a growth of 0.6 per cent.

In the UK, sales for the month of March alone reached 18,345 units, up 1.4 per cent year-on-year and despite the total British car market being down 3.4 per cent.

Kia Motors Europe's Emilio Herrera credited the Ceed model's resurgence with this increase in growth, pointing out that the ProCeed five-door shooting brake has been particularly popular.

Indeed, 3,908 units of this model were sold in the first three months of 2019 and sales in March equalled the 2018 full-year figures for its predecessor.

This makes the Ceed the brand's second-bestselling model behind the Sportage compact SUV.

"With the ongoing expansion and renewal of our product portfolio, we are putting ourselves in a strong position to secure further sustainable growth in Europe," Mr Herrera added.
