Mk8 Golf is coming to the UK

Volkswagen is set to release the Mk8 Golf in the UK, with a possible GTI option to follow closely.

It is expected the much-anticipated Mk8 will be on sale before the end of 2018 and there could be also a hybrid version included in the line-up.

A new Golf GTI has already started rumours within the industry and the iconic model could be capable of offering 325 bhp – 37 bhp more than the 288 bhp offered by the current GTI ClubSport model.

The car is also expected to offer a number of driving modes, such as standard, track and sport. VW is also planning to use a hybrid system, similar to that used in Formula One cars, to allow additional power during hard acceleration.

Exterior-wise, the new GTI will feature new styling with wider front wings, larger arches and bigger wheels. It is also likely the car will be inspired by the Golf Design Vision Concept that was revealed last year.

However, GTI fans will have a while to see the car, with its debut expected at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show in autumn next year.
