Kia issues pothole warning

Drivers who have taken advantage of good Kia deals may be on their guard for potholes if they are travelling in Surrey.

According to a survey by the manufacturer, the county has more potholes than anywhere else in the UK.

Surrey was said to have almost 2,000 potholes on its roads, ahead of Hampshire on 892 and Kent with 857.

The problem has been exacerbated in the last few months by severe weather, as the UK recently experienced the coldest winter in three decades.

Kia has therefore issued advice to motorists who come across a pothole when travelling.

"Slowing down as much as possible and taking your foot off the brake before impact can help reduce damage," said spokeswoman Sue Mulcaster

She also recommended holding the steering wheel firmly to help maintain control.

According to figures from the Institute of Advanced Motorists, potholes cost motorists about £320 million every year.
