Kia to release petrol Sportage

Car manufacturer Kia has revealed plans to satisfy the demands of its customers and release the new Kia Sportage in petrol.

Motorists looking for Kia deals swamped the manufacturer with demands for a petrol version of the Sportage first edition after the first 850 cars were snapped up.

In response Kia has decided to produce 300 extra first edition cars with a petrol engine prior to the full range going on sale later this year.

Michael Cole, managing director of Kia Motors (UK) Ltd, said it was clear when the first edition was released that many customers wanted a petrol option and revealed that the company is delighted to be able to offer 300 petrol versions to meet that demand.

The new petrol version comes with exactly the same high level specification as the diesel version which includes black leather upholstery, 18 inch alloy wheels, cruise control and rain-sensing wipers.

Powered by Kia’s Theta-II 2.0 petrol engine, which delivers 161bhp, the car accelerates from 0-60mph in 10.3 seconds and has a top speed of 113mph.
