Learner drivers ‘should also practise with parents’

Aspiring motorists could look for Vauxhall Corsa deals sooner if they gain extra driving experience with their parents, experts have suggested.

According to Aviva, half of all young drivers who only undertook paid driving lessons passed their test after more than four attempts.

By contrast, younger motorists who have had additional practice with their parents are 17 per cent more likely to pass their test first time round.

"The more experience young drivers can accrue behind the wheel, the better drivers they will be," said Nigel Bartram, motoring specialist at Aviva.

He said this is particularly true if they practise driving at night and travelling in different weather conditions.

Vauxhall Corsas are widely used by learner drivers in Britain, as well as those who have recently passed their test, so could be an ideal car to try out.

Andy Gilson, marketing director at Vauxhall, recently described the Corsa as one of the most popular small cars in the UK.
