More Ford deals now available with PowerShift transmission

Those looking for a new automatic car may want to consider browsing new Ford deals as six of the car company's models now come with PowerShift transmission.

This uses the latest electronically-controlled twin-clutch technology, which challenges the performance and fuel economy of a manual gearbox but has the comfort and convenience of a conventional automatic transmission.

It was originally launched in the Ford Focus and C-MAX, but it is now also available in the Ford Kuga, Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy.

"We are excited to extend the benefits of the PowerShift transmission to a much broader range of cars and engines within Ford's line-up," said Pat Oldani, Ford's automatic transmission manager.

Vehicles with the Ford PowerShift transmission have no clutch pedal as the gearbox uses two automatically-controlled clutches to shift seamlessly between gears.

Earlier this month, Business Car Manager magazine voted the Ford Fiesta the best supermini.

The new S-MAX also received an award, being named best people carrier.
