New Mazda deals help carmaker to profits

Motorists taking advantage of new Mazda deals have helped the manufacturer to record "positive" operating profits for the year leading up to the end of March 2010.

Although the carmakers suffered a 15 per cent drop in revenues, due to the difficult sales market caused by the global recession, it still made an operating profit of €76 million (£66 million).

The company’s president and chief executive officer Takashi Yamanouchi said new Mazda deals must be the focus for the manufacturer in the future.

He said future growth can be spurred by the completion of tasks such as optimising the performance, quality and costs of putting together new Mazda deals.

For the fiscal year ending in March 2010, Mazda sold more than one million new cars, slightly up on its expectations.

The manufacturer hopes the launch of the Mazda5 C-MAV persuades more motorists to compare new Mazda deals.

Eco-conscious drivers may be tempted by new Mazda deals after the carmaker recently announced that improved aerodynamics would lead to its models being more energy efficient.
