Volkswagen driver ‘will be impossible to avoid’

Andy Brodie and his Volkswagen Transporter will feature in a giant billboard campaign.

Being noticed by people as they walk down the street is something usually reserved for the rich and famous – but a Volkswagen driver from Watford could be set to become the most recognised person in the UK.

This is because small business owner Andy Brodie and his Volkswagen Transporter have been chosen as the stars of a new giant billboard campaign for the carmaker, which will see the 42-year-old appearing on a 27m x 18m Mega Banner on the M4.

Being emblazoned across Britain's largest billboard site will be sure to get Mr Brodie and his company AB Flooring lots of attention – and is likely to make other small business owners think more about the benefits to be had by checking out the latest Volkswagen deals.

In addition to the huge M4 poster, Mr Brodie's face will be seen on 750 more billboard sites throughout the UK, while he'll also be popping up in numerous magazine adverts.

Therefore, his will be a face you're sure to get to know over the coming months – and the whole thing has come about after Volkswagen selected him from thousands of customers to be one of four people chosen for the new advertising campaign for the Transporter.

The slogan for the promotion is 'We never forget the most important name on our vans – Yours' and aims to show how Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is working side by side with its customers.

Mr Brodie said: "When I first heard from the ad agency I took it with a pinch of salt.
Then they told me I would be famous for the whole of the summer."

Mark Hopkins, head of marketing for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, noted: "These ambitious businesses are vital to the country's economy, so entrepreneurs like Andy are already stars in many ways."

He explained the manufacturer is keen to give small businesses a helping hand as it understands just how tough it is for them in the current economic climate.
